About the RFPG

The Royal Faculty of Procurators is a body which was incorporated prior to 1668 and continues to serve the needs of the legal profession in Glasgow and West Central Scotland. Providing members with access to a large law library with significant holdings, a well regarded CPD education programme, the services of an auditor and a venue in the city centre for a wide variety of events.

The Library

The Royal Faculty of Procurators has maintained a library since 1817 which has been housed at the Royal Faculty building at 12 Nelson Mandela Place in the centre of Glasgow since 1856. There is also a small branch library at the Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The Royal Faculty Education Programme is designed to offer legal professionals from an array of backgrounds informative, detailed and useful seminars delivered by renowned experts in their field. Royal Faculty CPD events are open to all legal professionals (with discounts available for trainees and paralegals) and are also free for law students.

Janet Blackstock assumed the position of Royal Faculty Auditor in July 2017. Previously Janet worked for Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service for 27 years working in various sheriff courts across the West of Scotland and representing Scottish Courts and Tribunals on many corporate projects. Janet has experience in all aspects of legal work and over a 13-year period Janet was The Sheriff Clerk and Auditor of Court at Greenock, Rothesay and Dunoon Courts. Janet is a member of the Society of Sheriff Court Auditors (SOCA) and brings a wealth of experience to the office of Auditor of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.


The Auditor Service provides a fee assessment service (trust and executry, commercial leases, corporate work and general business) to both members and non-members.

  • A certificate of fee assessment will be prepared for all accounts issued under the auspices of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.
  • If required an Account of charge and discharge will be prepared balancing all the intromissions in the estate.
  • A computation of Legal and Prior rights can also be prepared.
  • All aspects of capital gains and inheritance tax work including returns.
  • In addition to the above, the feeing service offered by the Royal Faculty for private client work offers notes of fee (either by way of certificate of assessment from the Auditor or on a detailed basis).

This service is also available for commercial client feeing.


Court Feeing Service

The Court Feeing Service is run along similar lines to the Executry Feeing Service.

Files should be forwarded by firms in the first instance to The Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow, 12 Nelson Mandela Place, Glasgow G2 1BT (DX: GW 197 or LP: 7 Glasgow 7).
One of the benefits of this service will be to ensure that all accounts will be returned within 8 working days of receipt.
