Hot on the heels of the celebration of the library's bicentenary comes another important milestone in the life of the Royal Faculty. While the exact date of the formation of the Faculty of Procurators is not known, its earliest records date from 1668 and so 2018 will mark its 350th year.

Auditor Service

Janet Blackstock succeeded Tom McCafferty as Royal Faculty Auditor in July 2017. Previously Janet worked for Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service for 27 years working in various sheriff courts across the West of Scotland and representing Scottish Courts and Tribunals on many corporate projects. Janet has experience in all aspects of legal work and over a 13-year period Janet was The Sheriff Clerk and Auditor of Court at Greenock, Rothesay and Dunoon Courts. Janet is a member of the Society of Sheriff Court Auditors (SOCA) and brings a wealth of experience to the office of Auditor of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.

Pro Bono Initial Advice Clinic

As part of the celebration of the Royal Faculty Library's bicentenary the Royal Faculty hosted Stathclyde Law Centre's Initial Advice Clinic on Wed. 14th June. This was a drop in legal surgery open to members of the public with a range of issues that require on the spot advice. The IAC went very well and the venue was very much appreciated by clients and advisors.

Inter-firm Quiz

Many thanks to all the teams that took part in the Royal Faculty/TANQ Quiz night. It was a terrific night and a total of £1,024 was raised for two charities (the Glasgow Children's Hispital Charity and the Royal Faculty's Reid Law Education Fund). Congratulations to the eventual winners - Digby Brown.

Brodie Cup Golf Competition

The Royal Faculty's Brodie Cup was played for at Pollock Golf Course on Wednesday 10 May. Congratulations to winners Macdonald Henderson and also to Angus Wood of MacRoberts (best individual player).

The Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow is committed to providing its members with the best service possible. To this end we would welcome your opinion, as a member, to gain a better insight into members’ needs and expectations of the role that their Faculty should play. This review is also prompted, in part, by the need to assess the future use of the building. The survey will also afford members an opportunity to advise the RFPG of what it is doing right, any ways it can improve its services and what members would like the RFPG to focus on for the future.
