Brodie Cup Golf Tournament 2020

In light of the current crisis, and having regard to members' health and wellbeing, it has been decided to cancel - or at least postpone - this year's Brodie Cup. If it proves to be possible to hold the event at a later date in the year, this will be reexamined.
In the meantime, thank you for your support. Those firms who have already paid an entry fee will be refunded in full of course.

The Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland (JABS) invites applications from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for appointments to the Offices of Sheriff and Summary Sheriff. Depending on the Sheriffdom appointed to, it is expected that successful applicants will take up post between 4 November 2019 and 13 January 2020.

Trainee CPD - 2019 TCPD Course - now open for Registration

We are pleased to announce the opening of the TCPD programme for trainee solicitors to run from January to June 2019. This is the programme which has been prescribed by the Law Society and has to be undertaken by all trainee solicitors as a requirement for qualification as a solicitor. It will again be run jointly with the Scottish Law Agents Society and held in the Royal Faculty building.

Hot on the heels of the celebration of the library's bicentenary comes another important milestone in the life of the Royal Faculty. While the exact date of the formation of the Faculty of Procurators is not known, its earliest records date from 1668 and so 2018 will mark its 350th year.

Auditor Service

Janet Blackstock succeeded Tom McCafferty as Royal Faculty Auditor in July 2017. Previously Janet worked for Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service for 27 years working in various sheriff courts across the West of Scotland and representing Scottish Courts and Tribunals on many corporate projects. Janet has experience in all aspects of legal work and over a 13-year period Janet was The Sheriff Clerk and Auditor of Court at Greenock, Rothesay and Dunoon Courts. Janet is a member of the Society of Sheriff Court Auditors (SOCA) and brings a wealth of experience to the office of Auditor of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.
