Court - easing of restrictions and Refixing Orders

  • For a number of reasons, the alcohol and drug courts in Glasgow will, in effect, recommence as from Monday 22 March (time slots will be allocated).

  • SCTS announcement on the easing of restrictions from 19 April – see http://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/about-the-scottish-court-service/scs-news/2021/03/17/criminal-court-restrictions-set-to-ease-from-19-april-2021.

The position in Glasgow prior to the January lockdown was different from that which operated elsewhere.

Due to the number of summary trials courts we operate on a daily basis, we did not restrict loadings to the 3 + 2 model outlined in the SCTS release. The precise model we will operate in Glasgow with effect from 19 April is a matter that we will discuss over the next week or so – a significant improvement in the uptake of pre-intermediate meetings will go a considerable way to making the management of the significant backlogs we have more manageable. Everyone’s continued co-operation in this regard is greatly appreciated.
