4. Incapacity Law – First Principles & Life as a Professional Guardian

Seminar Details:

All solicitors should have an awareness of incapacity law. This seminar looks at the principles of the relevant statutes and considers who is subject to them. The seminar will also look at case law and practical applications of the statutory regime, in particular what is involved in being a professional Guardian.

Neil Mackenzie is a Partner and head of the Private Client department at Mitchells Roberton. He has extensive experience in the Law of Incapacity, particularly in relation to Powers of Attorney and Guardianships.
Paul Neilly is a Partner in Mitchells Roberton’s Court department. While he has a busy general litigation practice, for more than a decade he has acted for parties seeking appointment as financial and welfare guardians.
Both Neil and Paul are regularly appointed to act themselves as Financial Guardians on referrals from three Scottish local authorities as well as on private applications.

Booking fee: members £50; non-members £75; trainee/paralegal from member firm £15; trainee/paralegal from non-member firm £25
