23. GDPR – what have we learned so far?

Seminar Details:

The session will look back on the how the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 has embedded into UK law following its introduction on 25 May 2018. In particular, what impact this has had on law firms and the way in which we handle personal data on a day to day basis. The session will also discuss the Data Protection Act 1998's successor – the Data Protection Act 2018, which also came into force on 25 May 2018.

Kelly Fraser is an Associate in Harper Macleod's public sector team. Kelly provides advice and assistance to the firm's public sector clients, particularly in relation to charity law, corporate structures, governance, compliance and regulatory issues, EU procurement, and information law - including data protection and freedom of information.
Kelly is the principal advisor to a number of the firm's clients in relation to data protection matters, in particular providing advice and support regarding clients' obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Data Protection Act 2018, and advising on data protection matters raised in connection with a variety of commercial arrangements.
