Seminar Details:

This seminar will cover a range of topics including - the Roberton Review and the future handling of complaints, whistleblowing, Damages Based Awards, Non Disclosure Agreements, the solicitor's use of the media and social media.

The speaker, Prof. Alan Paterson, has been a Professor of Law at Strathclyde University Law School since 1984 and the Director of the Centre for Professional Legal Studies there since 2001. He chairs the Law Society of Scotland’s Complaints Sub-Committee (the oversight and policy committee for complaints) and is a member of the Society’s Regulatory Committee and their Professional Practice Sub-Committee. Professor Paterson is the Law Society’s Examiner in Professional Responsibility. Together with Bruce Ritchie he published Law Practice and Conduct for Solicitors (2nd ed., W Green, 2014) the leading work on professional ethics in Scotland.
