Seminar Details:

This session should be of interest to all lawyers whose clients are looking to secure funding, whether that be a term loan, overdraft or revolving credit facility. It will also be useful update to all solicitors who advise lenders loans and general security work.

Most lenders will look for a borrower to grant some form of security as collateral for the funds to be made available. This seminar will run through the headline points to be aware of in granting a guarantee, whether that be personal or a corporate guarantee; a floating charge or standard security. It will highlight some of the common property diligence items that will be requested for any property backed security and some of the usual pitfalls to be alive to.

Learning outcomes:

Developing and understanding of:

- property diligence – how to get borrowers ready for new funding to be secured over real estate;
- standard securities and points to consider when acting for borrowers;
- common forms of security requested by lenders;
- best practice with guarantees, both personal and corporate; and
- types of loan facilities, common themes and points to consider

 

Andrew Ronald

Andrew advises both lenders and borrowers in relation to all aspects of real estate finance. Andrew is responsible for drafting, reviewing and agreeing all forms of property backed security documents. He advises clients on the various property diligence items to be reviewed, liaising with the client's valuer to report and advise on the title to be secured.

Andrew has experience across a wide range of industries including, healthcare, hospitality and manufacturing. He has worked with a number of lenders, both high street clearing banks and alternative funders, to finance property development transactions across the central belt.

Andrew has also provided Scots law advice on multi-jurisdictional transactions for funders and companies alike.

Ricardo Matteo

Ricardo provides advice and assistance to both lenders and borrowers across a broad spectrum of transactions. He has experience in advising on loan and security documentation in connection with asset finance, shipping finance, real estate finance, investment finance and crowd funding transactions. He has also advised in many complex and high value multi-jurisdictional transactions.
Ricardo has advised on banking and finance matters across a variety of industry sectors, acting for most major lenders active in the UK market as well as many Scottish SME companies.
