Whistle-blowers – what are their rights and how are these enforced in the employment tribunal
Date:
Tuesday 14 December 2021
Time:
05:30pm - 06:30pm
Speaker:
Judge Susan Walker (Vice-President of Employment Tribunals (Scotland) )
Seminar Details:

Whistle-blowers have important legal protection. However the law is complex and the circumstances in which legal protection is provided are tightly prescribed. This talk will explain when the protection is available, how the employment tribunal deals with such cases in practice and what representatives can do to assist the Tribunal when bringing or defending such claims.

About the Speaker:
Susan has been an Employment Judge since 2005 and was appointed Vice-President of Employment Tribunals (Scotland) on 1 January 2010. With the President, she has responsibility for the day-to-day management of employment tribunals across Scotland and has been particularly involved in the extensive introduction of video hearings during the pandemic. Susan has been the lead judge for Employment Tribunals (Scotland) on number of cross-border initiatives. Currently, these include the roll out of the HMCTS Reform Project to Employment Tribunals and the development and delivery of training for Legal Officers, a new role in employment tribunals. She is also a trained Judicial Mediator and is the Training Lead for the jurisdiction.
