 Advocacy is the art of persuasion- good advocacy is as much about knowing what not to do as it is about being aware of what you should do.

Sheriff Cubie was formerly a solicitor in private practice in Glasgow specialising in civil court work, and qualified as a solicitor advocate in 2001. During his time in private practice he taught civil procedure at Strathclyde University and the GGSL. He was appointed as a permanent sheriff in 2003 and sat at Paisley and Stirling before moving to Glasgow in 2010. He is nearing the end of his time on secondment as Deputy director at the Judicial Institute for Scotland. He was appointed as an Appeal Sheriff in April 2017. He contributed to the last edition of MacPhail on Sheriff Court Practice and in 2016 his textbook on “Scots Criminal Law” was re-published.

For Solicitors over 2 years PQE there is a charge of £20.
