Graduate of Glasgow University; Solicitor and then solicitor advocate in private practice from 1979 to 2009; Part-time sheriff, 2005 to 2009; Floating sheriff in Tayside, Central and Fife, 2009 to 2012; Sheriff in North Strathclyde at Paisley Sheriff Court, April 2012 to May 2024 .Appeal sheriff, 2020 to May 2024. Currently sitting as a retired sheriff on a part-time basis
