About the Seminar:

Lord Carloway will explore what constitutes a convincing legal or factual submission by court practitioners and what is likely to irritate or even annoy the bench. He will also examine how judgments ought to be framed in a manner which will convince the informed reader, and maybe even both parties, of their merits.

Lord Carloway was appointed as Lord President of the Court of Session and Lord Justice General of Scotland in December 2015 where he served, dutifully until his retirement in 2025.
