A  session to look at recent changes in housing law in the private rented  sector and the proposals contained in the Housing (Scotland) Bill 2024 ..…led by Jim Bauld, the session will consider recent decisions from the courts and the Upper Tribunal..…topics might include the repairing standard, eviction, tenancy deposits, wrongful termination orders and rent controls …questions from the audience on these issues (and any others!!) will be welcomed !! 

About the Speaker

Jim Bauld has specialised in Scottish tenancy law since 1994 and is recognised by the Law Society of Scotland as an Accredited Specialist in Housing and Residential Tenancy Law. He has over 30 years of litigation experience in Sheriff Court work throughout Scotland. Jim uses his experience to give clients practical advice on complex issues such as debt recovery, tenant eviction, succession to tenancies, repairs, leases, accessing properties and antisocial behaviour.

His expertise has been externally acknowledged by his appointment as a legal member of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber). Jim has also been involved in Scottish government working groups which have dealt with a variety of proposals which have resulted in significant changes to housing law and practice.
