About The Event

Seminar Overview:

The introduction of government-backed lending during the pandemic created both opportunities and challenges for UK businesses. As the effects continue to unfold, insolvency practitioners and legal advisers are seeing a broad spectrum of outcomes — from genuine business distress to cases involving director misfeasance, wrongful trading, gratuitous alienations and unfair preferences.

In this session, David McGinness and Jude Howson from AAB’s Restructuring and Recovery team will examine how Bounce Back Loans (BBLs) and other funding mechanisms are influencing modern insolvency investigations. They will discuss recent case studies highlighting investigative approaches, asset recovery actions, and practical lessons around director decision-making and accountability.

The seminar will also explore the latest insolvency statistics across the UK and Scotland, offering insight into current economic pressures, enforcement activity, and trends shaping 2026 and beyond. This will be a practical and interactive session aimed at solicitors, accountants, and professionals advising distressed businesses or stakeholders.

Speakers:

David McGinness
