About the Seminar:

A discussion of some practices which are regularly seen in the civil courts which, at worst, show a disregard for the rules of civil advocacy, evidence or civil litigation, or at least are guaranteed to irritate your sheriff, and how to avoid them. The talk will focus on issues which arise from written pleadings, procedural short-fallings and the treatment of certain approaches to evidence.

 

About the speaker, Sheriff Gillian Craig:

Sheriff Craig is a Sheriff of North Strathclyde sitting at Paisley Sheriff Court, where she leads the North Strathclyde commercial court. She was a solicitor in private practice for over 20 years, specialising in commercial and property litigation. She was the senior tutor in civil litigation for Glasgow University’s Diploma in Legal Practice from 2010 – 2021.
