1. Martha Thomson, Kee solicitors - s29 Claims in Estates
2. Gemma Baillie, McLean & Stewart solicitors - Problem Executors
3. Prof Gillian Black, Scottish Law Commission - Executry Law: Time for Reform?
In April 2025, the Scottish Law Commission commenced a review of Executry Law. With statutes dating back to the 17th Century, and a raft of case law and practice built on top of these foundations, the current system of administration of estates is complex, cumbersome, and often unclear. This paper will set out the work of the SLC to date, and welcome views from practitioners as to the future direction of travel of the project.
