About the Event:

In this session, Elaine will cover the basics of preparation for and presentation of an opposed motion.  The session will also cover the practicalities of presentation of arguments by telephone-conference, WebEx and in person.  To ensure the session is as helpful as possible, attendees are encouraged to submit any questions they may have in advance to library@rfpg.org.  All questions will be treated confidentially and not attributed to any individual.  

About the Speaker, Elaine Smith (Compass Chambers):

Elaine called to the Bar in 2022 having spent 11 years with a leading personal injury firm. 

She has a wide range of experience in personal injury cases including road traffic accidents as well as employer's liability, occupier's liability and public liability claims. Elaine also has experience of issues surrounding the recovery of damages, particularly from bankrupt companies and uninsured individuals. Since calling, Elaine has been instructed in a wide variety of cases including industrial disease cases, historic abuse claims and is currently instructed as Crown Junior in a high profile fatal accident inquiry.

In addition to her personal injury work, Elaine has experience of product liability cases, clinical negligence actions, Inquiry work and regulatory cases involving health care professionals.
