A notice from Sheriff Principal Aisha Anwar to RFPG Members:
As you will be aware, each court holds a list of safeguarders for appointment in relation to applications under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.
I intend to appoint up to 8 individuals to the current list of safeguarders for Glasgow Sheriff Court. Those who are already on the list do not require to re-apply.
The deadline for applications is Friday, 18 October 2024 at 12 noon. Those interested in applying should write to my Executive Support, Joanna Healy by email (jhealy@scotcourts.gov.uk) with the following information:
A short CV which should set out (i) the candidate's relevant experience in AWI cases; (ii) evidence of an ability to work under pressure and (iii) evidence of an ability to deliver on deadlines;
One example of recent work such as pleadings in an application under the Act or a report authored by the candidate in respect of any existing court appointments (suitably anonymised);
The names of two referees;
A statement confirming/disclosing (a) that they are a member of the Law Society of Scotland; (b) whether they have ever been charged with, or convicted of a criminal offence; (c) whether they are aware of any current police investigation into their conduct; and (d) whether they have at any time been found to have committed professional misconduct or unsatisfactory professional conduct or are currently the subject of any complaints to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission.
Candidates who apply for inclusion in the list of safeguarders should practice primarily with the jurisdiction of Glasgow Sheriff Court and be in a position to travel throughout the jurisdiction and beyond for the purposes of preparing reports.
Candidates will require to be registered with the PVG scheme.
