Like all businesses, law firms are increasingly reliant on IT and, as a result, are exposed to a range of malicious cyber activity. Losing access to this technology, having funds stolen or suffering a data breach through a cyber attack can be devastating, both financially and reputationally, not only for the firm but also its clients. This seminar will examine these potential threats and explore ways to mitigate against them - paying particular attention to threats which have emerged as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The speaker, Basil Manoussos (Napier University), has 10 years of experience in Digital Forensics as an Expert Witness, working with legal professionals in Scotland and the rest of the UK, and 30+ years overall industry experience. His background includes working for organisations like IBM, Abbey National and HM Government. Since 2017 he has been working at the School of Computing, with a primary scope of raising the profile of The Cyber Academy and helping to raise awareness of cyber threats to businesses, individuals and the state, in Scotland , the UK and around the world.
