Expanding Access, Enhancing Value: Reciprocal Library Agreement

  • Mar 18
  • 1 min read

We are delighted to highlight the reciprocal agreement between three of Scotland’s most respected legal institutions:

  • The Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow

  • The SSC Society Library in Edinburgh

  • The Society of Advocates in Aberdeen

This agreement represents a meaningful step forward in enhancing the value of membership across all three organisations.

A Shared Commitment to Members

Under this arrangement, members of each institution can enjoy reading rights and access to library facilities when visiting the other cities. While full membership privileges remain exclusive to each organisation, this initiative opens the door to:

  • High-quality study and research environments

  • Access to professional library collections

  • Comfortable workspace and facilities while travelling

Whether you are in Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen, your membership now works harder for you - providing greater flexibility, convenience, and professional support across Scotland.

Adding Real Value to Membership

This collaboration is about more than access - it’s about strengthening the practical benefits of belonging.

For members, this means:

  • Maximising the utility of your membership beyond your home city

  • Supporting hybrid and mobile working patterns

  • Providing trusted, professional spaces wherever your work takes you

  • Deepening professional collegiality by sharing legal knowledge and expertise across institutions
